Day 12 of the 12 Days of Planning: Reminders for a successful 2017

It's the last day of 2016 and, by now, you may have set yourself some New Year's resolutions, or goals, for 2017. I explained how to set goals and actually achieve them in this blog post here.

Aside from my goals for the year, I also have little tasks or things I resolve to do each day in the New Year that don't really warrant writing an actual task in my planner. They're things I feel I should be doing each day, but for whatever reason I keep forgetting to do. So what to do with these?

The answer, for me at least, is to put them somewhere visual. Somewhere that I will see them every day, several times a day and, hopefully, at the times that I need to be reminded of them. For me, that's on the fridge door. I would love to have a clear, empty fridge door but unfortunately that real estate is just too valuable. So I stick onto my fridge, right next to the handle, anything I want to be reminded of on this little printable.

These reminders should be things that you want to do daily. They may be simple random things like:

  • drink a glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon every morning (this is something my Nan used to do and is so good for you but I forget unless I have this reminder)

  • sort the mail every day

  • empty the dishwasher before bed

Or they may be tasks related to your goals. For instance, if you have a health goal, you may also write:

  • eat dinner before 6 pm every night

  • stretch for 10 minutes before bed

So print out your reminders for 2017 here and list the little things you think you should do in 2017. That way, they will be out of your head and onto paper, freeing up your memory for other things. Soon enough, they'll become habits and you won't need to reminder yourself anymore. It's a great way to ease yourself into your New Year's resolutions!
